Fraser Mitchell is a Social Work Team Manager with Fife Council. He has a long-standing interest in practitioner research and has published widely on self-directed support, intermediate care, hospital discharge, and carers’ issues. Fraser recently completed Masters degrees in Integrated Service Improvement: Health & Social Care at the University of Edinburgh, and Applied Social Research at the University of Strathclyde. His present research focus is on the use of direct payments (under the Self-directed Support Act) to employ family members as carers.
